About Me

Children have an acute sense of justice and teachers have the special opportunity to foster their development for the benefit of humanity. During the 2020-2021 school year, I took a break from the classroom to work as an Instructional Specialist for my school district. I designed curriculum and recorded over 150 reading lessons for elementary teachers to use during remote learning instruction. All lessons were connected to the Social Justice Standards and highlighted diverse cultural perspectives. This page summarizes my insights gained from that experience, my participation in the Junior Youth Spiritual Empowerment Program, and my training in Ethnic Studies. I am striving to show that all forms of knowing are respected, affirmed and honored and am purposely prioritizing our most marginalized communities as we work toward radical healing in our society.

I am a National Board Certified Teacher in Literacy with a Masters in Elementary Education, Bachelor's in History and have taught primary and middle school grades. I'm currently a 5th grade teacher and studied with XITO Institute to teach Ethnic Studies.  I am also a partner in VIEW Consulting which supports school leaders in centering equity and anti-racist practices within their school and community. My life has been guided by deep spiritual beliefs in unity, equity, and justice from the Baha'i teachings. I am a mother of two beautiful children and married to the most loving person who supports and enhances all my work. With roots in Filipino, Ecuadorian, and Irish heritage, my background shapes my values and influences how I see the world. I hope this site assists teachers and parents in supporting education that teaches historical truths and reflects the essential oneness of humanity.
